Notte della Taranta – Cassarmonica

Project Details

Title: Notte della Taranta – Cassarmonica Year: 2017 Location: Melpignano

For the twentieth anniversary of the Notte della Taranta, we decided to bring back the popular music with its sounds and its dances in the typical atmosphere of the village festival. The idea was to reproduce an imposing semicircular “ luminarie cassarmonica “: the arches mounted on the stage cover a surface of 400m2 creating a lace drawing of light. They reach a height of 14m, with 19.000 coloured blue LED lamps, representing the sea and the sky of Salento while the warm white lamps stand for the light and warmth of our land.
On the front of the stage, a frame was created, always with LED bulbs of the same colours, a real scenic effect of a frame to this ”painting”, of the stage that will host the orchestra, the dancers, and the numerous guests.
The installation was designed by Lucio Mariano of Marianolight in collaboration with the director and choreographer Luciano Cannito.
